Chemical Engineering

The Department of Chemical Engineering of University of Kashan, while creating a key role in the nation’s scientific and technological development, has set a brilliant record in the national and international scale with its research achievements. Currently, this department with 12 full-time faculty members (2 full professors and 10 assistant professors) is conducting research and educational activities in the fields of catalysts and chemical engineering, separation processes, thermos-kinetic and simulation, process design, polymer and advanced materials. Based on international indicators, relying on seven well-equipped laboratories, it is among the country's top departments of chemical engineering. These facilities include the laboratory for Operation Unit in Chemical Engineering (including drying apparatuses, absorption tower and drainage tower), a laboratory equipped with process control (including temperature control, pressure control, surface control and volumetric flow rate control) as well as catalyst and advanced materials, hydrogen and fuel cell, separation process, rheology and supercritical fluids, bio-polymer and advanced nanomaterials synthesis research laboratories.

The department of chemical engineering admits students in BSc, MSc (5 degrees), PhD for Chemical Engineering; in addition to normal student admission procedures, students can be admitted in virtual training (in MSc) and in University Pardis section (in MSc and PhD).

Chemical Engineering deals with the use of natural raw materials, the transformation of materials into one another, and the separation of mixtures of chemical compounds in various processes, with regard to environmental challenges. The scope of this field is wide enough to cover a wide range of fields including petrochemicals, food industry, minerals industry, and oil and gas refinement. The courses in Chemical Engineering are in a way that graduates of this field are able to design, set up, manage, and control chemical engineering industry units and can evaluate the feasibility of all their plans, economically and efficiently. It is also possible to work in upstream industries including oil, gas, and petrochemical industries and in downstream industries like manufacturing companies (as Manufacturing Engineer) and Consulting Engineers’ Companies.

The faculty members of this department have attracted significant credits for the university by conducting research projects for industries and research institutions and publishing numerous international scientific papers in ISI indexed journals for national and international conferences.
